"In 2007 I left Poland with my wife to start a new life in England. As you can imagine I was very nervous about finding a job because my English was not very good and I was not confident that an Employer would give me the opportunity to show what I could do.
Back in Poland I had taken a Masters Degree in Management & Logistics and I also had some experience of sales and marketing but I knew I would have to start at the bottom when I arrived in England.
On arrival I had 2 months of factory work picking and packing pizzas which was pretty unrewarding but then I had a big slice of luck when someone from my church pointed me in the direction of Willbond and I got my first proper job working in the warehouse.
After only 3 months Willbond asked me if I would like to train as a stock controller working for the Purchasing Director and with some trepidation I took up the challenge. Thankfully everyone at Willbond has been very supportive and patient with me and I am now responsible for ordering most of the regular stock and for organising stock transfers to ensure that all of our branches can meet their customers' demands.
I like playing pool at lunchtime with colleagues from other departments who are all very friendly and I am very happy with my job which has really helped me to settle in this country. I hope that I can continue to grow and use more of my academic skills for the benefit of Willbond."
